For Us and By Us
Since 2024, Black Lives Matter UK brings together an annual steering board of Black activists, thinkers and cultural producers from across Britain to develop the festival’s themes. We recruit people who have a proven commitment to our liberation, to shape our programme and ensure it led by and for Black communities to reflects our community priorities.
Our festival is designed as a collaborative space for Black creatives and organisers. Through partnerships with grassroots organisations, community groups and artists, we centre capacity building and skill-shares in our programming to create enduring networks beyond each event.
Racial justice isn’t just about fighting oppression—it’s about building liberated futures. Our festival is a living archive of Black joy, resilience, and creativity. Through art, storytelling, and political education, we create new possibilities for Black freedom and self-expression.
