Call to Action for Radical Changemakers:
Are you ready to deepen your role in the fight for Black Liberation in Britain? Do you…
– Crave a space to build radical communities with activists rooted in Black abolitionist traditions?
– Want to explore how BLM UK’s values—like defunding harm, transformative justice, and global solidarity—can fuel local action?
– Dream of co-creating safer, liberated futures by and for Black communities?
If this speaks to your spirit, Project Timbuktu needs YOU.
What is Project Timbuktu?
Project Timbuktu is BLM UK’s flagship political education course, designed to equip activists with tools, theory, and networks to advance Black Liberation. Through community circles, we’ll dissect: Radical Black Traditions in Britain: From anti-colonial struggles to mutual aid legacies.
Abolition in Action: Dismantling “crime vs. harm” narratives to reimagine safety.
Global Black Struggle: Linking local organising to international movements.
Format: 8–16 participants + 3 facilitators per circle. Sessions blend discussion, strategy-building, and collective visioning.
Why Facilitate with Us?
Amplify Your Impact: Help shape the next generation of Black organisers for liberation.
Grow Your Skills: Receive training in facilitation, conflict mediation, and participatory education.
Join a Movement Network: Access mentorship from BLM UK organisers and collaborate with a dedicated working group of radical peers.
Organising for Power: Build on last year’s success—like pilot participant Jacob Joyce, who shared this take on their Instagram:
“After talking with people [at a Timbuktu pilot session], I feel energised, I feel like I’ve tapped into some kind of electricity, some kind of force. And that force is collective action!”
We’re Seeking Facilitators Who:
Are rooted in Black liberation praxis (formally or informally!).
Have experience facilitating tough conversations with care, nuance, and fire.
Can commit to 10 weeks of collaboration (training starts 28th April!).
No formal education credentials needed—just passion, integrity, and a willingness to learn.
Ready to Rise?
Apply by the end of Thursday 17th April at here.
BLM UK prioritises applications from Black activists, especially those marginalised by gender, disability, class, or immigration status.
